Ceiling Fan Size Guide

Use this guide to help you select the perfect size ceiling fan based on the size of your room. Choosing a ceiling fan based on a room size is both a functional and aesthetic decision – the below guide is designed to simplify the process. Before making your decision its a great idea to measure out the prospective diameter to provide you with an idea of scale. A large fan in a small room can feel imposing – thankfully we have some great options in small, regular and large sizes!

Small Rooms (approximately up to 7m2)

Recommended Fan Size: 122cm or smaller.
Examples: Small bedrooms, small office, walk-in closets

Tip: For spaces like these, a fan with a small diameter is ideal, as it won’t overwhelm the room but will still circulate air effectively.

Regular Rooms (7m2 – 13m2)

Recommended Fan Size: 122cm – 132cm
Examples: bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, home offices

Tip: The most common size for a ceiling fan is either 122cm or 132cm. As illustrated below, there is little difference between the two – both feel well balanced in a 4m x 4m room. You may wish to opt for 122cm if the room is slightly smaller, or the 132cm if slightly larger.

Large Rooms (13m2 and above)

Recommended Fan Size: 132cm – 147cm
Examples: Large bedrooms, living rooms, family rooms, large dining rooms, open plan living spaces

Tip: For larger rooms, you’ll need a fan that can move more air to maintain a comfortable environment. Alternatively, you can also add multiple fans in a large space for effective air circulation.
